The couture counterpart to Elie Saab's rainbow-tastic spring 2012 collection Handworked beaded gowns in a range of sherbert shades. Call me crazy but I wouldn't be surprised if we saw every last one of these stunning floor-sweepers on the red carpet come Oscars night.
Elie Saab is on to something good, and he knows it. His Spring/Summer 2012 Couture collection is essentially variations on the same long and sleek silhouette. In a range of light and springtime hued pastels, Saab picks up on the mint green trend that is catching on like wildfire and surrounds it with other baby blues, soft pinks, peaches, yellow and nude taupe. While most gowns are floor lengths, Saab punctuates the collection with a few frocks cut tastefully right above the knee. The necklines also ranged from deep slits to broad boat necks, and the sleeves went from long to just past the shoulder.
It's official - our fellow fashionistas - the newest trend not only in the fashion world, but in the wedding world is going to be pastels. We are confident that this subdued trend is going to be blossoming up everywhere. Think soft colored invitations in buttery yellows and minty fresh greens, spring blossoms in white vases and of course a soft and pretty wedding gown in an unexpected color. We can already see you sauntering down the aisle in an Elie Saab Pastel Wedding Gown. Chuck (Ed Westwick) and Blair (Leighton Meester) finally got their fairytale ending during last night's Gossip Girl series finale! The couple married in Central Park with the bride dressed in a light blue lace Elie Saab gown from the designer's spring 2012 couture collection. "When I saw the Elie Saab dress finally chosen for Blair's wedding to Chuck, it was absolutely perfect for her," Gossip Girl's costume designer Eric Daman told InStyle.com. "It needed to feel like old world glamour meets contemporary high fashion." Certainly, the non-traditional color met those requirements. "I liked the beautiful blue hue," he added. "It reminded me of the wedding dress Wallis Simpson wore during her scandalous wedding to The Duke of Windsor." Gorgeous! 59ce067264
